Ron DeSantis: Friend of the Virus

While some jurisdictions are mandating masks, Gov. Ron DeSantis is mandating that no one can wear a mask. Just imagine if he mandated that no one could get a vaccination. I guess he wants his constituents all to die. It seems that way. Of course he is a Trumpatista. Real men don't wear masks. Real men don't get vaccinated until they are about to be intubated and then they beg for it and cry out for their Mamas. With politicians like this, we don't need boogeymen. We don't need mandates that will lead to death and disease. Is Ron DeSantis the reincarnation of the Grim Reaper? For sure he's going to run for President. Trump supporters love him. Just suck it up and don't get the vaccine is his message. Get infected and those of you with strong immune systems can be my followers. As for the rest of you, ... well uh.
So what if the Delta virus is not the last COVID variant? What about the Epsilon variant or the Zeta variant? The Zeta variant could be 100 times more transmissable than the Delta variant which is 9 times more transmissable than the Alpha variant. What if you could catch it from 100 feet away and then it was 100 times as deadly. The American population is not taking COVID seriously enough. We're so over it just as the virus is ramping up for its second act. The virus is saying ... wait a minute. I'm not through with you yet. I've got several more variants up my sleeve, each one of them more transmissable and more deadly than the last. My name is Ozymandias King of Kings. Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair.
Maybe the purpose of a pandemic is to shake us out of our complacency. We've been too much in search of profits while despoiling and denigrating the planet. Mother Nature is not pleased. The pandemic is a reality check. What's important after all? Is it proving you're a real man by not getting the vaccine? The vaccine is like a miracle cure. Never in history has one been developed so quickly. The mRNA technology has the promise of ridding us of many other godforsaken diseases. Just one example: sickle cell. So will people of the planet look forward to getting rid of diseases that have ravaged humanity? Is that enough? Or is the pursuit of profit necessary to sustain us? Is health paramount? If it is, then we better do something to save our environment from the trash heap that we have been creating. We need to live sustainably. Climate change is a reality. We need to not use the earth's atmosphere as a dump for greenhouse gasses. It is almost too late. The dirty reality is that we have not been diminishing our trash output into the atmosphere. We've done practically nothing to forestall global warming. We wasted 4 years during the administration of the Denier in Chief. The time for moderate changes that don't disrupt business as usual is over. Our grandchildren will pay the price. The Ron DeSantis's and Trumps of the world seem to think their purpose is denying reality so they can make a quick buck.
