You surely have noticed the positive energy when starting something new. A relationship, a job, a project of some kind give us a sense of “anything is possible.” As Emerson wrote “power resides in the moment of transition, in the darting of a new aim.” The energy we feel when embarking on a new aim, is power. We are actually experiencing the most natural state a human can know. We are feeling the presence of Spirit in us, as us, coming through us.
There are peak moments in every life when we have that sensation of being outside of our self, almost as if we are observing what we are doing. Those moments when everything seems to be perfectly aligned to produce the awareness that we are something more than a body with a brain. It can also happen when we are sitting still in meditation. The happy-for-no-reason feeling arises and we are complete in that moment. Nothing needs to be added nor taken away.
In our busy world, we cheat ourselves out of such moments. We have to give ourselves the gift of private time, perhaps alone in Nature or attending a weekend retreat. This week I am travelling to Pacific Grove to the Asilomar retreat center. I will be speaking there, as I have many times, but it is also a chance for me to do some de-stressing. It has been a challenging year and I am due some respite. Take some time for you, too. The world needs rested, relaxed minds and happy-for-no-reason hearts.
