When the caterpillar is in the cocoon, being acted upon by the forces of Nature, he has nothing to say about his condition. Even so, he is in a state of ascension from one mode of living to another. He will literally be lifted off the ground as a creature who crawls into the rarefied air of a Being who flies and is beautiful. Our own soul is like that furry creature, forever being acted upon by the higher Intelligence. It is called inherent potential attempting to be revealed.
The difference between us and the caterpillar is our ability to say No to the power within that wants to make all things new in our life. “But wait! (we cry) I want everything to stay the same. Isn’t this just fine? I mean, sure, I struggle down here on the ground, but it’s what I know. I’m good at it! The not-yet-known is scary, so no thank you. Stop nudging me from within to do more, be more, take a risk. I do just fine in the familiar conditions I have lived with for a long time.”
Humans are the only sentient Beings who can say no to God, and we do it all the time. We resist change, carry grudges, refuse to forgive, malign others, hold on to our supply in fear of lack. These are the traits of a lost soul. But it is all changeable. Our inherent potential is never diminished by our fears and misplaced faith. It is always intact and ready to ascend to higher levels of living.
Try this: “I am in ascension mode. I give permission to the forces of Spirit to take me into higher levels of prosperity, love, vitality and joy. I am ready to fly!”
