It was early in my spiritual studies that it came to me; God is a verb and the only way it could be seen in action was by turning itself into another verb, a Be-ing. In order to guarantee a forward moving evolution, there had to be the experience of individuality. Thus, hidden within the I and the me of each one of us, is the activity of God. It is forever attempting to fully reveal itself as love, joy, peace, vitality, supply and creative intelligence, which turn themselves into human, individualized activities.
It followed then, that the spiritual path is not to get somewhere but to come to a realization of our true nature. The question becomes, how much more love or joy or peace, vitality and creativity can I allow into my life? How do I bring it through me into action? What is stopping me from fully releasing these natural qualities into the realm of personal experience? "Consider the Lilies." I look at nature and see the only significant distinction between flora, fauna and humans, is that we look outward for our self-identity and the Lilies just bloom.
It is quite the razors edge to be on, that of being in the world but not done in by it; of caring about others but not be concerned to the point of despair; of getting involved yet remaining detached; of believing in the Good within everyone while allowing for varying levels of its expression. It is a practice and everyday affords us more opportunities to hone our awareness.
Try this: “My true self is my informant. It prompts me to do the right thing, know the higher truth, choose the best action. I am its hands and feet, its mind and heart. I identify myself as the activity of God.”
